Due to the COVID-19 outbreak in the Philippines, class suspensions were previously implemented for the safety of the students. Currently, over 9,000 cases of coronavirus were confirmed in the country.
Now, some places are already under a General Community Quarantine (GCQ) and starting to adjust with the “new normal”. High-risk areas remain to be under the ECQ until May 15.
Education Secretary Leonor Briones announced August 24 the first day of class for the new school year.
“Our chosen school opening date is August 24,” DepEd Secretary Briones said at the Always Ready public briefing.
According to the DepED, it does not mean that the opening of a new school year will allow students to return to school.
Can be blended education – a combination of face to face and online teaching approach.
The possibility of using TV and radio for the class is also looked into.
