This March 20, DOLE will begin distributing P5,000 cash assistance to employees affected by the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon.
Department Order No. 209, which Bello signed on March 17, set the guidelines on the adjustment measures program for affected workers to COVID-19.
According to Bello, the help is given after President Duterte declared a state of public health emergency in the country through Proclamation No. 922.
The one-time financial assistance is non-conditional and given to affected workers regardless of status, a part of the five-page order read.
All employees who are not currently employed by an enhanced community quarantine in our country will receive financial assistance from the government.
Including the “Economic Assistance for Displaced / Unprivileged Workers” fund for informal workers will also be distributed today.
Informal workers include taxis drivers, tricycle drivers, street vendors and other workers whose livelihood is on the street.
However, DOLE explained, only P5,000 cash assistance is available to payroll workers submitted by their employers to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
